Just wanted to put this out there: You know you have great friends when you pay by card and don’t end up being shorted on cash. In fact, if anything, my friends tend to overpay by a buck or two.
It’s not about the money, I can certainly afford a few bucks extra given that I am paid ridiculously well (ridiculous in the sense that I think it is ridiculous how much I get paid for being a native speaker). It’s the fact that your friends aren’t trying to cheat you. They respect you and like you enough to know that you can do the mental math later when you have the cash in hand and will know that someone shorted you. Or just the fact that it doesn’t even occur to them to short you or that you would even count it.
Hmm, maybe it says something about me that I count the cash (later, in private haha). I mean, I can’t NOT count the cash because of my natural curiosity. And I’m just passive enough that I wouldn’t say anything about it to them.
Ok this got really complicated, I just wanted to toss up a post about how I’m happy and feel so lucky to have the friends I have. In fact, I’ve never had a problem splitting the bill, so this is really a roundabout way of patting myself on the back for my choice in friends. Go me!
